Photos from LEGOLAND California Visit …

Winter Haven Chamber and City officials visited LEGOLAND California on April 8 and 9, 2010. The group spent five hours touring the park with General Manager Peter Ronchetti and CFO Brian Shaw. Information concerning the visit was presented at the City Commission’s April 26 meeting. The slide presentation below is a pictorial review of the the beautiful LEGOLAND California Park.

Renovations on the Cypress Gardens site will begin in summer. Watch for plans and  artist renderings of the LEGOLAND Florida park in July.

It is truly a beautiful park in Carlsbad. My brother’s family lives there and has annual passes.
The dining is excellent, and the atmosphere is very relaxed compared to other parks.
One of my favorite interactive exhibits had to be the musical fountain operated by foot pads in the walkway.

  2. Nancy Sanders says:

Thanks for sharing the pics. Winter Haven is fortunate to have Legoland coming to our area and Legoland is just as fortunate to have found the Cypress Gardens property in our community. I am anxious to take my 9-year old granddaughter to the new attraction when it opens.

  3. David Lane says:

I agree with the two posts above. We need to figure out a way to get those coming to take a look at Winter Haven Legoland to explore our community more fully. When people see what a great place this city is, and that real estate is such a great value and that we have many business properties available at such reasonable prices they will want to come here for their new lives, second homes with a lake view or to just retire. We will all benefit. We just need to plan how to get them to take some time and take a look in our community. Anyone got ideas on how we can get people to spend some time in WH?

  4. Jeff Stevens says:

We had something that brought in thousands throughout the year. It was called major league Spring training. It would be nice to have them both back again. The city needs more than one anchor to make it a destination.
I agree with you and the other posts David. The city has so much to offer but Lego Land by itself may follow the same demise as its predecessor Cypress Garden without additional support. I hope Lego Land keeps the concerts and I wish them well. All of our condo rentals will come with tickets for Lego Land.

  5. David Lane says:

We are lucky. We have more than a year of lead time for the planning as to how we can make Legoland a winner but also how to make Winter Haven get the biggest bang for the buck. This Legoland being the biggest such venue in the world will have nationwide as well as international publicity. With this publicity they will have to spotlight Winter Haven as well. Think of it major articles in the New York Times travel section as well as all the other papers and travel magazines. Lets be sure we can feed the press lots of info about Winter Haven and the wonderful opportunities here as well as Lego.

  6. Chris says:

No concerts. The theater was torn down the other day. The re-routing of Helena Rd. is underway. Also, there is some MAJOR development at the intersection of US 27 and Cypress Gardens Blvd. Anyone know what that is going to be?

Also, agree with you about Spring Training coming back. That would be great

  7. Bob Gernert says:

The development on US 27 south of Cypress Gardens Boulevard will be retail. We will publish more detailed information when available.

  8. joey says:

What re-routing of Helena is going to happen?

  9. joey says:

Bob, can you comment on what us homeowners on the north side of Legoland can expect?
Really we are interested on any type of barrier that joins our property with Legoland will be.
    Thanks

  10. Bob Gernert says:

Helena is being rerouted from the new intersection at Cypress Gardens Road (between Walgreens and Cypress Station) and the south end if the main park parking area. Coming from the south the road will run along the southern edge of what was used most recently as overflow parking. This new road will intersect across from the Publix shopping center central access. We don’t have exact details for the entire route behind Admiral’s Inn and Town Center and some portions may involve service access. We will double check our details and repost here.

  11. Bob Gernert says:

To our knowledge the park has not released details of their plans for any portion of the park at this point (other that Miniland will involve a portion of the Topiary Trail area). As the new park management team is assembled I feel certain that these concerns will be answered. When we know the information we will publish it here. In our visits with officials in Carlsbad, California, it was evident that the park had been an extraordinarily good neighbor across the board. We fully expect the same experience here.

  12. Clay Reedy says:

I know that this is a continued debate for Winter Haven, but I personally believe making sure all of the canals for the CHAIN of LAKES our open will help bring back some of the boating community. I use the lakes all the time and there is almost nobody out using them. I believe this is because you cannot navigate a boat through some of the canals now and even the ones that our open still have very shallow sections, sometimes hitting your prop if you have a inboard boat. Our town is based around lakes that we cannot use adequately!
