Polk County will unveil its new “Outpost 27,” a $1.5 million interactive tourism center, on March 17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Grand Opening festivities invite the general public to visit the 7,500 sq. ft. center located just south of I-4 across US 27 from the sprawling Posner development.
The long-awaited new facility is intended as an alternative to traditional “welcome centers” that sometimes function as more of a “pit stop” than an information center.
The center will offer limited printed materials regarding Polk destinations and will feature visual displays and tourism “diplomats” to direct visitors to those places that meet their travel interests.
Hours of operation are still being finalized but are presently pegged at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
Tourism is a major Polk economic engine. What will this new center will mean to you and your business?
