What a big thing for Winter Haven!! Channel 13 right here broadcasting from Central Park for the viewing audience. I’m sorry that this wasn’t known before 10:30 Thursday or that it was not highlighted on this site. Thank you. ET
I was not aware of the showing but I got to see a little over an hour. Of course it makes Winter Haven look wonderful. But that is why I moved here. I fell in love with all its charm. With this showing it will come with a double edge sword. It will bring more visitors as well as snow birds that is great but then many will want to make it their home. It can help boost some things on the economy and help sell some of the many homes now for sale.
But I saw what it did to Port St Lucie. It grew way too fast and the lower priced homes and the sweet charm that brought people there is gone. All the trees were leveled and there are rows and rows for miles of nothing but identical roof tops. The quite charm is gone. The seetness of the people is gone. The rude pushy people that you wanted to get away from have all moved there with you. The traffic is awful now. So those things might bring some good will most likely bring the negative as well. More demand means that the sale of homes goes up great if you are selling and moving away but again the lower to middle class will not be able to live here. If the properties go up so does the taxes and the insurance. I know we want progress but with it looses much of why you love it here. I hope this does not happen. I was hoping that the people that like all the new cookie cutter homes and wall to wall shopping centers would not flock to Winter Haven.
It’s amazing how Eileen can take something as positive as the coverage that Winter Haven received on Fox 13 this morning and turn it into something negative. I, for one, am proud of my city! I am proud of the long-standing businesses that were featured today and the traditions that they represent for us here. I am proud of how our city looks! I am proud that with the help of a lot of caring citizens we still have Cypress Gardens, and it’s more beautiful than ever! I thought we never looked better than today on Fox 13! I’m proud to live in Winter Haven!!!
