The Winter Haven community and other interested citizens will get their first look at plans for LEGOLAND® Florida on Thursday, July 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Orange Dome on Cypress Gardens Boulevard. John Ussher, General Manager for LEGOLAND® Development notes, “This is just a friendly get together to tell people a little bit about the park. There will be a building event and some other activities.”
Those other activities include scale models of the park, video and blackboard plan displays and, of course, a LEGO play area for the children.
The event is a “drop by anytime during those hours” sort of unveiling and, expecting a large crowd, organizers chose the venue for its size and available parking.
Winter Haven will be home to America’s second LEGOLAND theme park and, in terms of acreage, the largest of Merlin Entertainments five LEGOLAND venues. The park is expected to open in Fall 2011 … just in time for the City’s Centennial Anniversary.

selection as the site for LEGOLAND® Florida – January 21, 2010.

I love this company already! They are so forthcoming with keeping the community informed about their progress! Sounds like this open house will be very informative and fun! Thank you Legoland!
I look forward to attending this event and learning more about this exciting venture coming to our area. Anticipation abounds as we welcome Legoland!
Can’t wait. Should be very cool. With little parks like Silver Springs and even Weeki Wachee surviving I just knew CG had a future, too.
Comments directed to John Ussher, Director of Legoland Developemnt: On the gardens site sits a unique and cinematic historic area (swimming pool in shape of Florida), built by M-G-M film studios in mid-50′s for their film starring Esther Williams. Over the years, it has been reglicated, but still a very visable asset. I am hoping it will not be taken out, but restored for photo shoots, tourism promo parties, or even a return appearance by Ms. Williams who’s still a popular movie icon.
We contacted Mr. Ussher through his staff and he shared the following information. “Right now we are still evaluating our assets and putting them in priority order. We are still deciding on the final plans for the pool but as for now it will remain on the asset list to be used at a later date.”
