Tijuana Flats and Marble Slab Creamery at Towne Center adjacent to Cypress Gardens

Popular new Tijuana Flats Restaurant and a locally-owned Marble Slab Creamery will join Ruby Tuesdays and Big Boy Restaurants among the shoppes at Towne Center at Cypress Gardens. Century Retail leasing agent Cheri Hendricks confirmed the tenants via telephone May 8. Hendricks added there is a prime location available for a day spa and the center would suit a tanning salon and dry cleaning establishments as well.

Towne Center is a 21,000 sq. ft. facility with car counts of 30,500 per day. Average household income within 5 minutes of the center is $70,776 and within 20 minutes pegged at $51,285. The center is designed to serve the growing southeast Winter Haven and Lake Wales market.

Those needing leasing information should contact Hendricks at 407.248.9828.

We also received confirmation today that a Honda dealership will locate further east on Cypress Gardens Boulevard between Hill Nissan and the Hyundai facility under construction.

So what restaurant would you recruit next?

    How about Moe’s Southwest Grill.

  2. Manuel M. says:

Central Florida needs a Jamba Juice! The problem is that I don’t think Jamba allows single-store franchise ownership. Someone needs to step up and place one here in Winter Haven, a couple in Kissimmee, one on I-drive, one in downtown Orlando and one in Lake Mary. I think that would just about cover it.

  3. Tina Nawada says:

I can’t believe Starbucks doesn’t seem to want to open a store in Winter Haven…What do they think about our demographics???

  4. Cole B. says:

I would like to see a Panera Bread. I think that would be huge around here, especially in the Cypress Gardens area.

  5. Wassa Hannenin says:

Whats the deal yo? Why cant we get a TGI Fridays up in this beast! For reals, that Jack Daniels menu is da bomb yo!

  6. Gary Morrison says:

  7. James says:

While you are out shopping and eating this summer remember that Thyme for Dinner, located in the Shoppes of Lake Dexter on Cypress Gardens Road, has 14 new menu items every month and that one entree at Thyme for Dinner serves 4-6 people for less than 4 dollars a serving. Forget those other places go see how the guys at Thyme for Dinner can help you become a Dinner Thyme Gourmet.

  8. Yvonne says:

I would love to see a Chic-Fil-A with a play center for the kids.

  9. Mike says:

should go after a local favorite like Garfield’s or a steak house

  10. Jennifer says:

Winter Haven needs to get a Pollo Tropical I think they would do very well here in this area we need more spanish food places and im not even spanish but love the food please think about it Thanks!

  11. Stacey says:

Smoothie King, Chic-Fil-A, Starbucks…something young and hip

  12. Mel says:

How about an Ale House. I think it would do well in this area.

  13. Teri Brescia says:

    We need a Panera Bread!

  14. Mary Louise Kalisz says:

I would love to see Winter Haven get a Starbucks and also Panera Bread. It would be nice to have outside dining like the restaurants in Winter Park.

  15. David Covey says:

Just to let you people know about Tijuana Flats. It is much better than Moe’s and is a Tex/Mex style joint. They have a hot sauce bar with over 50 sauces that change regularly. Tijuana Flats was started by a student at USF and frankly is my favorite restaurant. Currently my wife and I drive to Orlando occasionally to get my fix of hot food. And to Stacey it is much more hip than Chic-Fil-A!

  16. Lillian Dinan says:

Don’t forget, if you don’t already know, that Weiner Haven also has ice cream, milk shakes and sundaes along with an extended menu of deli, soups and salads. When down town, stop in and see us.

  17. Lori Potter says:

I would love to see ANY restaurant with a good sized dance floor. I go to Tampa & Orlando to dance and see so many people from Winter Haven. It would be great not to have to travel to dine & dance!

  18. Teresa Jones says:

I agree,we just moved to the area and would love to find somewhere local for a good night out offering both dinner and dancing.

  19. jm says:

We need a Sweet Tomatoes, the nearest are in Brandon, or Orlando. Also a good buffet style restaurant such as Freds.

  20. Liz says:

How about a Marshalls or TJMaxx?

  21. Lindy says:

    Lori,
Yes! We go to Cocoa Beach for dining and dancing at Heidi’s Jazz Club and the Dove. We go to Sanibel for dining and dancing at Ellington’s and Jacaranda. Plant City has the Red Rose. Where do you go in Orlando and Tampa for dining and dancing? Since Peter Scott’s in Longwood closed, we have trouble finding a nice erestaurant with a decent sized dance floor and music. Anything within an hour’s drive would be wonderful!

  22. Chris says:

Winter Haven is getting a little better, however we let Lake Wales beat us at getting a Starbucks? Secondly, we have way too many tanning salons, nail places, hair places… Come on.. We need a TGI’s, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, and a new McDonalds in the Cypress Gardens side of town.

  23. Bob Gernert says:

    Chris,

Many of the businesses you want are franchises. Perhaps you should open one. There are plenty of businesses that have opened here in Winter Haven before they had locations anywhere nearby … and there are more on the way.

  24. Amy Jones says:

How about a Starbucks and Zaxby’s.
Lakeland and Mulberry have a Zaxby’s
Lake Wales and Lakeland have Starbucks.
I would also like to see Chick-Fil-A. I agree, too many chinese takeout, nail spa, tanning salons. They are in every shopping center! There is a really neat upcoming chain called LOCOS deli that would be different. Let’s cater to the young adult crowd so we can keep our town growing!!!!! If everything is senior citizen focused then the future of Winter Haven is not dim. Youth breeds growth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Amy Jones says:

I forgot to add my two cents regarding other stores. Steinmart, TJ Maxx, Coldwater Creek, and some children’s clothing stores, Plato’s closet ( consignment for the tweens and teens), Chiccos, Bed Bath Beyond. Why do we need two Walmarts? How about a Target? With fuel economy going downhill and us trying to keep the earth “green” let’s focus on not sending our residents to other towns to shop. That is what we are doing. Imagine the fuel we can save if we get something besides Bealls Outlets and Walmart!

  26. Suzanne L. says:

I would LOVE to see a Starbucks! I’ve lived here almost 10 years and still can’t believe that Winter Haven does not have a Starbucks! Please, I beg to the powers that be, bring us a Starbucks to Winter Haven. I’m begging and it’s not pretty…PLEASE!

  27. Joe G. says:

I would like to see the commercial development slow. I want Winter Haven to be what it was 10 years, or even 5 years ago.

  28. rob says:

fridays has broken ground across from hurricanes on cgb

  29. Charlie L. says:

Does anyone else know what is going in besides Friday’s on CGB next to the new Hyundai location?

  30. debbie tennick says:

Francise and “chain” restaurants are great. I support them all the time especially my personal favorite – Carrabas. But don’t forget about the locally owned businesses that add a local flavor to our town. Starbucks would be a great addition but we have Richards that does a fabulous job. Just in our downtown you can choose among several great locally owned establishments. El Olivias, Weiner Haven, Jessies, Scores, Tsunami Sushi, Pizza Central, Tanners pub and soon to open Arabellas ( just to mention a few) offer a fanrastic variety of great food, drinks, live music and dancing!!!!!

  31. Diamond says:

we need a chick fil a, a steak and shake and also a Krispy creme in winter haven!!!!!!!!
