Access to Intermodal Terminal Site Nears Completion

The soon-t0-begin Intermodal Rail Terminal being constructed here by Evansville Western Railway is a hive of busy activity. As outlined by the following photos, roadways and site preparation are weeks away from allowing construction to begin. Preparations include a temporary rail spur that has been constructed to deliver construction materials. We expect special groundbreaking ceremonies in the near future. The actual terminal site will be leased by CSX Transportation from Evansville Western.

Access road (Pollard Road extension) to Intermodal Rail Terminal from junction with Highway 60 (looking north toward project).

Access to the Intermodal site required a bridge built over the Peace Creek Drainage Canal.

An extension of Pollard Road will allow all Terminal access to enter from Highway 60. This photo is looking south toward 60 from the intersection to the terminal site.

Preparation is proceeding on rail terminal site. Groundbreaking for facilities will follow soon.

This terminal will anchor an Intermodal Logistics Center that will feature warehousing, distribution and a business park including automobile distribution. It is expected to take approximately 21 months to complete and will develop as a major economic engine for Winter Haven and Polk County.
